Hymenophore: smooth to granular, gray to hazel-brownish
Margin: same color as the hymenophore, inconspicuous

Subiculum: same color as the hymenophore, often absent
Subicular hyphae: hyaline to brownish, with clamps, thin-walled, not encrusted, 3-4.5 µm
wide
Subhymenial hyphae: hyaline, rarely brownish, with clamps, thin-walled,
not encrusted, 3-5 µm wide
Cystidia: hyaline, clavate to slightly capitate, 80-140 µm long, basal
width up to 4.5 µm, apical width up to 8 µm
Basidia: hyaline, with basal clamp
Spores: brownish, irregular, sometimes lobed, 8-9.5 µm, spines up to 1.5
µm long
Distribution: In Germany, it is considered a very rare species.
Note: The similar Thelephora subclavigera differs only in having
more regular and slightly smaller spores.
