Subicular hyphae: hyaline to brownish, occasionally with clamps, thick-walled, not
encrusted, 3-6 µm wide
Subhymenial hyphae: hyaline, occasionally with clamps, thin-walled, not
encrusted, 3.5-5 µm wide
Cystidia: not present
Basidia: hyaline, partially cyanescent, occasionally with basal clamps
Spores: brownish, irregularly rounded in front view and regularly elliptical
laterally, 8-11 x 6-8 µm, spines up to 1 µm long
Distribution: worldwide in temperate regions, considered a rare species in Germany
Note: This species is mainly distinguished from the completely clampless Thelephora fuscocinerea by the occasional presence of clamps on
the hyphae.
